Shapy idlis for kids

Kids like to have variety  in their lunch boxes and there is nothing wrong in their likes.Instead of filling their lunch boxes with pizzas, burgers and puffs, one can very well do with shapy idlis.

This does not require any special skills. All you have to do is instead of the regular idli plates, take a round small plate which has a  slightly up sides see pic.,

Smear oil liberally and pour the batter and steam as you do for the normal idlis. They will be like a thick dosa and after it gets cooled, cut into different shapes as shown above. Serve it as a surprise, you can encourage them with more stars if they bring their snack box  after eating empty.

You can make it colorful by mixing pudina, coriander chutneys, Idli chutney powder, tomato chutney, this will give them the taste and flavour. A mother knows best.
These shapes are available in Spencers in the Cake section.

When my Baroda grand daughter asked me to make dosas in the shape of star, smily, and crescent, I was surprised, later made and gave as my daughter used to make for her.
