Bread Dosa

Ingredients

White bread slices10 slices
Semolina (rawa/suji)1/2 cup
Rice flour1 teaspoon
Saltto taste
Yogurt,whisked2 teaspoon
Oil2 tablespoons + to deep fry
Mustard seeds1 teaspoon
Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal)2 teaspoon
Curry leaves,chopped2-3
Ginger,chopped1/2 inch piece
Green chillies,chopped1-2
Onion ,chopped
1 medium

Method

Trim the edges of the bread slices. Soak the slices in sufficient water for two to three minutes. Take semolina, rice flour, salt and add sufficient water to make a thin batter. Squeeze out excess water from the soaked bread and lightly crumble with hand. Add it to the batter along with whisked yogurt. Put the mixture in a mixer and blend. Transfer to a clean bowl and adjust the consistency. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, dhuli urad dal, curry leaves, chopped ginger, green chillies, onion and sauté till onions are lightly browned. Set aside to cool. Heat a dosa tawa. Put some oil on it and wipe with a clean wet cloth. Add the tempering to the batter and mix well. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the hot tawa and spread. Pour a little oil on top and sides and cook for two to three minutes. Turn and cook the other side similarly. Prepare the other dosas similarly. Serve hot with chutney. 

Method - 2

Ingredients :

Bread slices - 4 nos
Riceflour    - 1 cup
Semolina   (Rava) - 1/2 cup
Curd - 1 cup
Greenchillies   - 2 nos
Mustardseeds -- 1/2 tsp
Splitblackgram (Uzhunnu parippu) - 1/2 tsp
Curryleaves
 - 1 spring
Ginger (cut into small pieces) - 1/2 tsp
Onion
-
1 no(finely cubed)
Oil - As reqd
Salt   - As reqd

Directions :

1)For preparing delicious bread dosa, soak bread in water for sometime and squeeze out the water.
2)Grind the soaked bread with rice flour, green chillies, semolina, curd and salt(add water if required).
3)Heat oil in a vessel. Splutter mustard seeds, split black gram, curry leaves and ginger.
4)Saute in the onion till it becomes light brown in colour. Put this to the above batter and mix well.
5)Add water if required to make it into a dosa consistency batter. Add required salt.
6)Heat a dosa frying pan and pour a ladle of the batter. Move it in circular motions to get a round shape.
7)Drizzle a little oil on the sides of the dosa. Fry it on both the sides till it becomes light brown in colour.
8)Repeat the procedure with the remaining batter.
9)Delicious bread dosa is ready. Serve hot with any chutney or any curry.
