Teacher ---- Accident or Destiny !

Becoming a teacher was an accident; I never intended to be one. I understood that unless both of us work, we cannot complete the house plan. The pressure of building a house within three years of the plan approval, My f-in-law’s hospitalization ,his end ,frequent trip to madras from Anand, the meeting of the ceremony expenses have drained the savings , a change of job a few month’s back etc, etc …… pushed me to the wall. I need to look for a job and I went in search of a teacher’s job and at least two schools insisted that I do my B.Ed and then approach.

It was when one of our family friends met with the accident, and we called on them in the hospital that I came to know the next day was the last day for submission of applications for the B.Ed course!

It was God sent message that immediately my husband got the application and filled it and submitted it.

We forgot about this and going on as usual and all of a sudden we received the call letter for written test and interview. Rest is clear; I could get thro, even though I was the last person to come out of the day’s interview.

Thanks to the Mandal Commission, the course started by Sep 15 th 1985 and it was a favour for me with two school going kids one in Sr. KG and the other in class two.
I had to talk and convince them that I would study and become a teacher in their school [KV], and it was a great responsibility to manage the house, kids and study all with hectic schedule of course all was not possible without my husband’s support. He was responsible for me to balance all efficiently. His office in the same campus, his office , timings, five days a week all paved the way for the smooth functioning of the house.

Like any normal house we also faced opposition from close relatives in me taking up a job, but we decided to go ahead and not to ask anyone’s help and manage ourselves. We did a good thing and we could divide, share, adjust, understand and work in tandem. It was not an easy job and we literally struggled to meet both ends financially and also do jugglery with our work.

Fortunately, God has given us two beautiful understanding, co-operative kids who never made us feel anytime it’s going to be a herculean task! To add to this very good neighbors -:who monitored the kids and very helpful in many ways. It was like four families living together.

My husband had to manage the house in the absence of ‘ghar waali ‘as well ‘kaam waali’for fifteen days when I had to go on Off Campus Prog. My kids and husband helped me in making the teaching aids for my prog and final exams. Some how I completed the exams and in a matter of fifteen days I got a job in one of the State board schools as a teacher.

We were thrilled and when I sit back and think I can’t imagine that we had struggled so much to come to the place where we are now. Of course it was a joint effort! From my experience I can say that without each other’s support nothing great can be achieved in life!
