JANANI---Really a JANAM - NEE

Today's news of 5 year old's kidney donation to her own father after her brain death, is a rare feat of this century. The father Mr. Chandrasekaran received both her kidneys. Janani died in accident due to head injury.

செத்தும் கொடுத்தான் சீதக்காதி , here Janani gave life to her 36 year old father . Her other organs like liver, heart valves, corneas were also harvested for donation.

What an irony , the daughter coming to the rescue of her father instead of the other way!

What is the plight of the mother? To mourn the death of the tiny one or be happy that her husband got a new lease of life?

Whatever it is, it is an incident worth praising.

Yesterday after 9 pm, I was watching NDTV a prog regarding the organ donation by Ganga Ram Hospital surgeon, Dr. Samiran Nundy, who said there is a great need to educate people on the issue.

The message is Brain death is death, and one dead person can save 5 lives. When you are brain dead, you are dead and you can never recover ,though there is a feeling that the person is alive, because of the life support system .

200 thousand people die of liver failure , 100 fifty thousand people die of kidney failure , more than 100 thousand from heart failure.

From the time I came to know about this harvesting , I am for this and I keep saying that once I am declared brain dead, my organs, if they are in good condition, should be donated, though it is not welcomed by my family.

I am so conscious that I would like to remain healthy so that there is no problem or hiccups coming in the way. of fulfilling my wish .
Indeed , I would prefer my body be given for research to medical college. But I know it will not be done, indirectly I got the message.

There is another angle to this donation. I have spoken about this to my father and husband, both were against this. They feel God has given this to us and we should reach him in the same way . They felt that losing eyes after death would deprive them of seeing the path to heaven.

What an absurd thinking!,has anyone given a first hand information on their journey to the celestial world after death, who has seen what happens after one leaves this world, the body remains and only the soul departs from the body. All the organs are a part of the body.

In that case isn't it foolish to stick to this absurd thinking?

My only hope is that awareness is created in this regard and the tinsel world by taking a leaf out of their own samples can make a film creating awareness for this multiple organ donation like Taare zameen par, Paa, MINK
Let us be a candle to give light by burning ourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. really a good article regarding organ donation. i have heard in some upanayasam that eye donation was done even in the "ramayana " age.
NARAYANA WAS PROSTRATED BY DEVAS AND NARAYANA GUIDES THEM TO GET BONES OF THATHISEE MUNIVAR AND USE VISHWA KARMA TO CREATE VAJRAAYUTHAM. THATHISEE MUNIVAR GIVE UP HIS BODY BY YOGIC POWER AND ASCENDS TO HEAVAN AND "VISHWAKARMA" MAKES THE POWERFUL VAJRAAYUTHAM USING THATHISEE's BONES. INDRA NOW FIGHTS WITH VRTRASURA & VRTRASURA IS KILLED BY INDRA.

    here bone was donated.
we have already decided to (husband and wife) donate our bodies.
    lalitha
