Healthy nutrition is the key to helping fight gum disease, which is not only important for oral health, but also to general health and well-being. Nobody likes gum disease, and here is how to nip it in the bud.
Gingivitis or gum disease is the inflammation of the tissues that surround the teeth and is mostly commonly a result from poor dental hygiene. It is characterized by red, swollen gums that bleed easily when teeth are brushed or flossed. Gingivitis isn’t the same thing as periodontists, although sometimes a person can be affected by both at the same time.

Gingivitis starts as food debris mixed with saliva and bacteria forming plaque that can stick to the surfaces of the teeth. If gingivitis is left untreated it can extend from the gums to the bone and this leads to periodontitis.
