Avoid soaking the chopped vegetables in water since they tend to become mushy and water logged.

Bags of tea can absorb those bad odors in the pantry, in your shoes or in your car. Put a few tea bags on a tray and put them in the closet, shoe or car. Let them absorb the odors.

Carrot needs little more water than the other vegetables.

Cluster beans, beetroot, potatoes require water to  submerge themselves. It takes long time to get boiled.

During week ends wash the ginger, peel the skin and cut them into small pieces and store in an air tight box.

Got leftover Watermelon? Freeze watermelon puree and add the cubes to lemonade.


 If you forget to soak channa or rajma overnight, soak them in hot water in a casserole for 2 to 3 hours to get the same effect. A pinch of baking soda can be added in the water.

Have small air tight boxes to store peeled garlic, washed and chopped green chillies, curry leaves and coriander leaves.

Know the difference between a boil and a simmer .

Keep the old items in front and newly bought veggies at the back of the tray to avoid wastage.

Keep  the sauteing and seasoning items  in small cups the ready before cooking and this will help a lot to prevent over roasting or time waste in opening the spice box for every recipe.

Keep the things that you rarely use at a distance and the most used used tools closest to you. Take out the veggies and things needed from the refrigerator before starting cooking and keep closer to you. Don't waste time by walking to refrigerator often.

Prevent contact between apples while storing. Wrap each apple individually with a paper and store.

 Select the correct cooking oil to retain the flavour and taste.

Store spices in cool and dark place and not above or near the stove. The heat and humidity make the spices to lose their flavour .

To turn back fleas from your dog or cat, spread some dry and used tea leaves around the place they sleep.

Tea can be a great and gentle cleaning material for wood floors and surfaces. Wipe the wood surfaces or furniture with a clean cloth soaked in cool tea water.

Use minimum number of vessels for cooking. Spreading out too much of vessels give a messy look and heavy task.

Vegetable like Lady's finger need not be boiled since they become sticky. They are boiled with Tamarind water to avoid this.


While boiling cauliflower with water add 2 tablespoons of milk to water which makes cauliflower to look brighter and whiter.
