Hanuman among all Gods and Goddesses is the undying one. His form is a
combination of apes and humans. Any poor man who worships Lord
Hanuman can become rich and if a rich man worships him, he too never
gets poor.
Women can’t worship Lord Hanuman
There is a common saying about Lord Hanuman that women can’t worship him. Indeed this is confusing. The truth is that even women can worship Lord Hanuman, but they forbidden to pray during their menstrual cycles.
Ma Anjani was an Apsara
It has been mentioned in Purans that the mother of Lord Hanuman, Ma Anjani, in her previous birth, was an apsara in Indra Dev’s darbar. Her name was Punjiksthla. She was an ultimate beauty and her nature was very playful. Because of this nature, she used to often offend others. One day she offended a sage who was busy in his tapasya.
The angry sage cursed Punjiksthla that since she keeps behaving like apes playing all the time and disturbing others, she will have to lead a life of an ape. After being cursed, Punjiksthla realized her mistake and asked for forgiveness from the sage. The sage’s anger reduced after Punjiksthla asked for forgiveness and he said that although he can’t change his curse, but this form of her will be respected by the mankind. Punjiksthla then took birth in Kunjar’s family and her name was kept as Anjani.
She was married to Vanarraj Kesari and they gave birth to Lord Hanuman on Shukla Purnima of Chaitra month.
Lord Shani never creates problems for the disciples of Lord Hanuman
There is a fear of Lord Shani in everybody’s mind. Shani’s prakop can destry anybody’s happiness. But if you are a disciple of Lord Hanuman, you need not fear Lord Shani. This is because it has been mentioned in Purans that once Lord Hanuman had saved life of Lord Shani and relieved him from his problems. It is since then that Lord Shani never creates problems to those who are disciples of Lord Hanuman.
Meaning of Hanuman
One meaning of Hanuman is ‘without any ego’. Hanu means to kill and man means ego. Therefore, a man who has killed his ego is known as Hanuman.
Who was Lord Hanuman’s son?
As per Ramcharit Manas, Lord Hanuman had gone to Lanka in search of Goddess Sita. He was caught there by Meghnadh and was presented before Raavan in his palace. That time Raavan had ordered to burn Lord Hanuman’s tail and with his burning tail he fired the entire Lanka. However, Lord Hanuman was in deep pain because of his burnt tail. For some relief, he dipped his tail in the ocean. That time he was sweating and a drop of his sweat fell into the mouth of the fish in the ocean.
After drinking Lord Hanuman’s sweat, the fish got pregnant and gave birth to a baby boy. His name was Makardhwaj.
Makardhwaj was equally strong and brave as Lord Hanuman. Ahiravan had appointed him at the gates of Pataal Lok. To please his presiding deity, when Ahiravan had made Lord Rama and Lakshman captives in Pataal Lok through a magical spell, Lord Hanuman reached there to free them. It was then when he met his son Makardhwaj for the first time.
Makardhwaj told Lord Hanuman how he was born. Then Lord Hanuman freed Lord Rama and Lakshman and killed Ahiravan. He also made Makardhwaj the governor of Pataal Lok and asked him to follow the path of righteousness.
General rule of worshipping Lord Hanuman
On
the idol of Lord Hanuman, oil and vermilion is applied. He has to be
offered flowers like rose, sunflower, etc. He gets pleased when someone
reads Sunderkand or Ramayan in front of him. In sweet, Laddoo, jiggery,
chana and Guava is offered to him.
His disciples should read Hanuman Chalisa 108 times in front of him. If reading Hanuman Chalisa 108 times is not possible then it has to be read at leat twice in a day.
Special days of Lord Hanuman’s puja
Worshipping Lord Hanuman on Tuesdays and Saturdays proves really beneficial. It is said that Lord Hanuman was born on a Tuesday. He had defeated Lord Shani in a war, which is why he was blessed by Lord Shani. Therefore, whoever is a disciple of Lord Hanuman is never troubled by Shani Dev.
