Vaastu, the ancient science of architecture can be used to design your home or office in such a way that, money, wealth and prosperity can be attracted and multipled easily.

There are few things you MUST avoid to reduce outflow of money and few other things you need to do in order to increase income.
The idea is to keep the North-East corner (ruled by Kuber, the lord of wealth) clean and full of positive energy.

Few people do mistakes of having an elevated N-E corner and having garbage, blockages, gates, wires etc overthere which prevents inflow of wealth.
Placements of staircases, bathrooms, garbage cans, broom and mop sticks, water bodies etc in right corners decide how you control flow of wealth in your home of office.

• Keep the North direction and NE corners positive, energetic because it is the center of God of wealth and helps in sustaining forces that drive wealth.
  Do not construct over-head tank in north-east direction. Ensure that your entrance or house front door is not blocked by any wire, pole, pit or other things.
• Do not make swimming pool, water body or anything lower than the normal ground level in the South-West corner (applicable to home, office or any other building). This corner should always be elevated than others.
• Place the money locker closer to the south-west or the south wall in the south-west room or north-east so that it opens onto the north direction.
• Never place the cash locker under any beam as this puts a lot of financial stress on family and business.
• Place a mirror in front of your cash locker so that the mirror shows an image of cash locker when opened. This is emblematic that your wealth is doubled.
  You can place that mirror on inside wall of cash locker door, so that this mirror keeps reflecting the wealth inside.
• Avoid making staircase etc. in NE corner. Never keep anything heavy like machinery, ladders, heavy metal storages etc in the North-East corner.
• Make sure to avoid any high rise buildings, temple etc. in front of NE of your plot or home as this leads to loss of wealth. If there are high rise buildings and temples then at-least make sure that their shadow doesn’t falls on your home or plot.
• To load your locker with wealth, do not construct over-head tank in North-east because it is the place for under-water tank. Place suitable for over-head tank is South-West corner.
• Fish aquariums are very positive for wealth. Choose some active and healthy fish and try to make sure that they are strong swimmers. Keep the water dirt free and aerated. The constant movement of fish will keep the energy of wealth on the move.
• Sweeping the floor should be done towards the inside of the house. Never direct your cleaning actions towards the main door. This will cause a reduction in wealth. Garbage bins should have covers. Keep them covered all the time. Avoid garbage cans, which are perforated on the sides. Wealth energy gets corrupted otherwise.
• Always open your bedroom windows for at least 20 minutes a day to allows fresh energy to come in. If not, you will be sleeping with stale energy every night.
• Your bed should always be one foot above the ground to facilitate free flow of energy on the bedroom floor. Restriction in the flow of energy would also curtail your wealth earning chances.

• Always keep the South-West portion of roof higher than the North-East portion. Building roof must slope from SW to NE.
• Always buy plot(s) which have more or at-least the same elevation than the surrounding roads. Never buy a plot which is at a lower level than the road facing it.
• Planting big and huge trees in the South-West portion of a plot stabilizes finance. This also helps to avoid misfortunes and mishaps in family and business.
• Never have big and high trees in the North-East side of a plot as it obstructs financial flow.
• Place a water fountain in North-East part of home. Make sure that water in the fountain is always moving; movement of water denotes flow of positive energy and wealth.
• Make sure to feed water and grains to birds in your plot’s yard, this attracts positive energy and wealth.
• Main door is the vital part of the house as this door is considered as the point of entry in the house. If the entrance to your apartment lies at the end of a long corridor, the energy flowing towards it will be too fierce, increasing risk to your financial investments. Its effect can be diluted by keeping a plant halfway down the corridor.
• Consider the placement of statues and showpieces. Statues of Lord Ganesha or Laughing Buddha are known as the dispeller of obstacles, can beautify the house, but avoid placing in the north-east corner.
• If your expenses are going beyond control, keep live plants or grains in the toilet. It will prevent the money from going down the drain, because, symbolically, growing things reabsorb water energy and recycle it.
• Keep a birdbath or feeder in the yard to attract wild life, as it augments the amount of energy around your home. Birdbaths and bird feeders can be of great help in cleaning up your finances and drawing prosperity from all directions.
• Wealth is mainly represented by purple color, hence keep a purple colored plant in your home. However, if you find it difficult to get a purple colored plant then keep a money plant in purple colored pot.
• Drainage pipes should be fitted in the east or the north area of factories, offices or residences. Never have a dripping faucet or plumbing as it drains the finances of the house.
• Leaking or running pipes with water are indicating loss of wealth, so get them fixed always.
• If the entrance and exit doors are in a straight line, this clearly means that whatever comes in doesn’t stay but goes straight out in the same direction. You can place a screen between the two. • If there are narrow passages in the house, you can hang mirrors on the wall to expand the feeling of width. If the southwest portion of the house is left vacant, Use it any way you like, even if it is for storage, as long as you go in there once in a while.

  Kitchen is the place where housewives spend most of the time of the day chorus job. That is why we cannot under emphasize importance of proper vastu for the kitchen. If proper vastu rules are not followed in the kitchen owner might have difficulties in the life. We must attach importance to kitchen in house construction.
  Stove or gas burner must not be lit facing the South or North. In many homes the kitchen is at outside of the house and this is mostly seen in villages. But this is not very popular.
  Today we use gas burner which is safer than using firewood and bamboo.
  • Avoid placing the kitchen at the North- East corner of the house which may lead to lots of unrest in the home and may destroy peace of house.
  • It is also better to avoid kitchen at South-West side. This is also likely to cause many difficulties and worries to the owner. In order to get best out of Vastu, it is always advisable to consult a Vastu Expert before placing the kitchen or planning for the kitchen.
  • The cooking gas must be placed in the Southeast as it provides peace of mind.
  • The cooking stove has to be placed in the South-East.
  • In North-West kitchen the gas burner can be placed in the North-West in West.
  • If unavoidable, then the stove has to be placed in the south-East in East, facing the West and the stove should be lit.
  • The kitchen should have its heavier articles placed in the South and West like the fridge, Mixer grinder, and water storage bottles. The slab should be placed in the East, away from the Eastern wall.
  • Position of door in the kitchen should be in the north, east or in the north-east corner of the Kitchen. It should also open clockwise direction.
  • Kitchen windows should be in the East direction. The smaller windows can be in the South. There should be adequate provision for cross ventilation.
  • The water filter and drinking water should be stored in the North East corner.
  • The Refrigerator can be placed in the North-West or the South-West.
  • Exhaust fans in the eastern walls in the Southeast corner. The Kitchen is the best place to have the daily meals.

  In older days cooking was done on earthen cooking stove usually placed outside the house and building materials used were combustible in nature. The cooking fire was preferred in S-E corner or the N-W corner to avoid hot summer wind blowing from the S-W to the N-E could not cause damage.
  Women don’t get a chance to get exposed to the morning sunlight . So in order to avoid such a scenario vastu advises women to cook in the east direction only.

  • Entrance and Pooja room should be in North East zone

  • Bathroom should be in East or in between East and North East

  • Bedroom of the bread earner of the hose should be in North-West side.

  • Number of doors and windows should be even.
  • Pooja room’s door should have double shutters and four frame.

  • Toilet should be used facing north during day and facin south during nights, but never east or west.

  • Vaastu defines specific colors for directions and corners of a house.
    These colors influence and have an active role to play in our lives.
    Right color at right corner helps us improve physically and mentally.
    Vaastu based guidelines for choosing right colors for each room of your house :
    • Bed rooms: Light colors are suitable for bed rooms. Pink, blue, green, gray and lavender in their lighter shades keep the rooms tranquil and induce good sleep. Pink or cream colored tiles or marble are good for flooring
    • Kitchen: Kitchen must have some tinge of red in it depicting fire. It can be utensils, or any other items. White or blue are suitable for walls and flooring
    • Guest room: for active and pleasant atmosphere prefer yellow, green, blue, orange or lavender in their lighter shades
    • Study Room: to improve concentration and for pleasantness opt for green, blue, light purple which also improve memory
    • Baby/Kids room: bright colors are suitable for baby rooms be it pink, blue, yellow orange or purple
    • Bath rooms: white, light gray, pink or any pastel shade is suitable.
    Few additional tips : Green drives away anxiety(used in hospitals), blue cures insomnia(sleeplessness), red solves your over weight problem, orange improves your appetite, pink is for tension and yellow improves memory. Some colors add zest to life and give positive attitude where as some colors act the opposite way.
    Caution: Do not use bright colors on walls facing South and West windows and doors,as they reflect light and cause glare.
    Keep those doors and windows closed during day time so that the bright rays do not reflect in the room.
