Memorable School Days !!!!!!!

Where are those days when we  walked to school?
Waited for Saturdays  to have a sunday,
Enjoyed the morning prayers sung in chorus,
Wrote with slates and slate chalk pieces.

Went to a new class with four in a bench,
Smelt the new books ,liked to scribble on new note pages,
waited for class five to write with ink pen,
Enjoyed the art class for using the color pencils.

Copying the tables on to a slate for the mental maths class,
Had a community lunch with siblings and cousins
under the trees, behind the class rooms,
Liked the Games teacher only for the games period.

Uniform was a mere skirt, blouse and chappals , black ribbons,
Parents never intervened with the school authorities,
We had good time with our friends chit chatting ,
We shared, studied, played, joked, ate, fought, thought, danced sang!

Vacations were endless fun with no home work and pressure of coaching classes.
Studies were given importance with other things .
Pockets full of marbles, stones, with no money,
But it was a great friendship bonded for ever!
